Course Details
This course offers a comprehensive exploration of the dynamic intersections within the media industry, blending theoretical knowledge with hands-on technical skills development. Students will have access to state-of-the-art professional green screen facilities, providing an immersive learning environment. Additionally, they will receive training in utilizing Unreal Engine, a cutting-edge tool for virtual production and real-time rendering. Also specialising in the Adobe Creative suite and RED cinema camera operation.
Throughout the program, students will delve into essential theories and core principles of the film industry while honing their professional and technical competencies. Practical work in our studios and creative classrooms will further enhance their technical skills, with opportunities to work across various media formats, including moving/still images, audio, and written content.
The curriculum encompasses key aspects of a Creative Media Technician, covering topics such as:
- Planning, sourcing, and generating media assets
- Editing, assembling, and finalizing media content
- Packaging and delivering edited media assets
- Preserving media assets for future use
A highlight of the course is the industrial placement, where students will spend approximately 315 hours over two years working alongside industry professionals. Supported by the college, students will gain invaluable real-world experience and insight into their chosen career paths.
Upon completion, students will emerge with a unique blend of academic knowledge and industry experience, equipped with the skills necessary for future employment. The course also emphasizes the development of literacy, numeracy, and transferable skills in communication, research, and project management.
