Course Details

• Health and safety in the salon

• Client consultation for hair services

• Shampoo and conditioning

• Cutting women’s hair

• Styling and finishing hair

• Colouring and lightening hair

• Perming and neutralising hair

• Salon reception duties

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You’ll be assessed through a mix of practical tasks on real clients, where you’ll showcase your skills in a salon setting. As you progress, you’ll build a professional portfolio of evidence from your completed assessments. You’ll also complete assignments and online tests to support your learning and demonstrate your knowledge.

Entry requirements

1. Attend a taster day. The dates for the taster days will be shared at your interview.

2. Complete and independent study task. This task will be set at your interview.

3. Provide contact details for five potential clients.

4. Submit a completed work placement proposal form. This will be provided at your interview.

5. GCSE Grade 4 or above in English Language and Maths is desirable.

Equipment required

You will be required to purchase a uniform and kit. All kits are compulsory to attend and achieve the qualification. Further information will be provided at interview Stationery including files, dividers, pens and USB stick
