Course Summary
Enrol in this course to develop the skills needed for a career as a Carpenter and Joiner. You will learn health and safety in construction, how to maintain carpentry and joinery tools, and how to produce various woodworking joints. The course includes both classroom learning and practical workshops, ensuring you gain comprehensive knowledge and skills. By completing the assessments, you will be prepared for employment or career progression in carpentry and joinery.
Course Details
The qualification is unitised and has an assessment on the completion of each of the 5 units including carpentry and joinery and Health and safety. When the five units training has been completed and assessed individually, you will have successfully completed the course.
This qualification covers the following practical skills and knowledge training:
Health and safety in construction
Maintaining carpentry and joinery hand and portable power tools for safe use
produce various and different types of woodworking joints using hand and power tools
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will be assessed on each of the five units within the qualification on the classroom theory knowledge you have developed. These include the principles of construction and health and safety, additional to the carpentry and joinery knowledge units below.
You will also be assessed on the practical skills you have developed on three practical skills tests for Maintaining carpentry and joinery hand and portable power tools for safe use and producing various different types of woodworking joints used in the industry as a Carpenter and Joiner.
You will not be assessed until you have successfully completed the required training leading up to an assessment.
Entry requirements
- You must be 16-18 years old.
- You must hold GCSE English and Maths. One of these qualifications must be a minimum Grade 1 and the other must be a minimum Grade 2.
