YEAR 12
Education
In this section you will study inequalities and functions of the education system. Research Methods you will study the methods Sociologists use to investigate behaviour. Families and Households you will study how families have changed over time and across cultures, and the future of the family.
YEAR 13
Crime and Deviance
You will apply your knowledge of theories from year one to crime and deviance. You will also examine trends in crime and deviance. Theories and Methods you will apply your knowledge of theories of education and families from year one to over-arching theories of society and also analyse new theories of society. Beliefs you will apply your knowledge of the theories in sociology to beliefs in society. You will also study the impact that beliefs have had on wider society including secularisation.

Assessment Paper 1: Education with Theory and Methods 2h written exam on Education, Theory and Methods in Context 80 marks (33.3% of total A-level) Paper 2: Topics in Sociology 2h written exam on Families and Households and Beliefs in Society 80 marks (33.3% of total A-level) Paper 3: Crime and Deviance with Theory and Methods 2h written exam on Crime and Deviance and Theory and Methods 80 marks (33.3% of total A-level) Extended Learning HE+ Extension Activities Independent Research project

Entry requirements

Minimum requirements for admission to the Sixth Form: A grade 5 in Mathematics.
A grade 5 in English Language or English Literature.
Achieving at least 3 other GCSEs at grade 6 or above. Subject specific requirement*
