Course Summary

If you want to be a chef, the Level 3 Professional Cookery course is perfect for you. Learn to cook meat, fish, veggies, and more with our expert chefs. Improve your baking skills with tasty desserts, biscuits, and cakes. You'll learn about food safety, menu planning, and healthy eating. Enjoy guest chef lessons and compete in cooking contests. Classes are in top-notch kitchens and our Open Kitchen restaurant.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

There will be practical observations and assessments and written coursework assignments that will be submitted in your final portfolio.

Entry requirements

  • Successful completion of a Level 2 Culinary Skills Diploma (or equivalent).
  • Submit a completed work placement proposal form (provided at interview).
  • GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above is desirable.

Equipment required

You will need a complete knife set, chef whites, front of house uniform and safety shoes. You will be provided with details of how you can order the correct knife set and all necessary uniform through college if you choose to come and enrol. You may be eligible for financial support towards the cost of your kit and uniform through our Learner Support Fund.

Your next steps...

Upon completion, you could gain employment as a catering or restaurant manager or as a chef. You could also progress onto further management and supervisory qualifications.
