Course Summary

This exciting ‘hands-on’ course combines vocational, practical training with academic study. In Year 1 the course offers a broad range of training in all aspects of Design,

Technical Theatre, Media and Production in theatrical, film and live-event contexts. In Year 2 students can specialise, hone their skills and develop depth of knowledge,

understanding and expertise in their chosen area of interest.


Students on the Production Arts: Technical and Creative Theatre course pathway will gain the following qualifications (equivalent to 4 A Levels):

• UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing & Production Arts (Production Arts)

• BTEC Level 3

Entry requirements

Entry to CAPA College requires a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/level 4 or above, to be confirmed in writing by the applicant’s current school on enrolment day. This needs to include grades C or Level 4 and above in GCSE English and GCSE Maths. In exceptional circumstances a student with a D grade or Level 3 in either GCSE English or GCSE Maths (but not both) may be accepted. Arts specific qualifications and/or previous formal experience are not necessarily required to successfully gain a place at CAPA College.

Instead, in the application process each applicant will be looked at closely for evidence of passion, aptitude and the potential to make the most of their time with CAPA College.

This combination of professional training and academia ensures that students develop the skills, training, experience, knowledge, understanding and qualifications to progress to higher education.
