Course Summary
The aim of this qualification is to introduce knowledge in areas relating to Adult Social Care, such as person centred approaches, duty of care and the role of a Social Care worker.
This course is accessible to learners of all ages who may want to understand more about working in Health & Social Care. It aims to introduce the basic concepts of caring and preparing for employment in this sector

How will it be delivered and assessed?
The course is unit based and is assessed by the production of a portfolio of evidence.
Entry requirements
Learners must be 16 years and above, school leavers will need a GCSE grade D in English or a Level 1 Functional/Key Skills English qualification.
Learners will also need to provide 2 references and complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.

Successful completion of this course can lead on to the Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care, Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care or Childcare.
Learners aged 19 and over can also progress on to the Access to HE: Combined Studies or Access to HE: Health Professions courses. Learners may also wish to complete the level 2/ 3 Certificate in supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
