Carpentry and Joinery L2 Apprenticeship

As an Apprentice Joiner, you could be working on site fitting windows, stairs, skirting boards or constructing partition walls, or you could be employed as a bench joiner making items of furniture such as staircases etc.

You will attend College one day a week to complete your off the job training and functional skills in maths and English.

Your on the job training will take place in the workplace by your employer with support from your College Training Officer.

A dedicated Training Officer from the College will visit you regularly to assist you in recording evidence of the work you do onsite or in the workshop.

Ongoing formative assessment will take place throughout the duration of the apprenticeship to ensure that candidates are ready for the end point assessment which takes place at the end of the training.

End point assessment includes an independent assessor checking your onsite evidence and a practical assessment is carried out in the workshop under exam conditions.

A discussion will take place between the applicant, the employer and the Training Officer to establish whether the range of work is available to ensure that the apprentice can achieve.

Existing maths and English skill levels will also be assessed at this meeting.

On completion of your Advanced Apprenticeship you can move on to the Advanced Apprenticeship or perhaps run your own business in the future
