Course Summary

This apprenticeship provides the skills and knowledge required to develop fantastic hospitality skills and knowledge such as recognising customer needs, knowing how to match them to the products and services of the business and working as part of a team.

Course Details

Hospitality team members can work across a wide variety of establishments, such as bars, restaurants, cafes, conference centres, banqueting venues, hotels or contract caterers. The role is very varied and although hospitality team members tend to specialise in an area, they have to be adaptable and ready to support team members across the business.

The list below sets out how the credit has been assigned across the mandatory units. All units in this qualification are mandatory.

Specialist supervisory functions can be any of the following:

  • Food and beverage service
  • Alcoholic beverage service
  • Barista
  • Food production
  • Concierge and guest service
  • Housekeeping
  • Reception
  • Reservations
  • Conference and events operations

How will it be delivered and assessed?

E-portfolio and workplace observation. Guided learner hours are delivered during contracted working hours.

Entry requirements

You should:

  • Hold two GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English and maths
  • Be employed within the catering industry or have an employer in this area willing to take you on as an apprentice

You may have also achieved a Level 1 in Culinary Skills.

  • Training and/or experience which may include a portfolio showing what has been completed
