Course Summary

Get SET is an exciting work-based course for young people who have had extra support at school or college.

The course helps you grow in confidence, independence, and skills for work.

You will work with local employers or community groups and you will be fully supported by a Job Coach and a Tutor who are there to help you do well.

On the course, you will:

attend classroom sessions and build a portfolio of your achievements

set personal goals and work towards them step by step

learn real work skills in real workplaces

develop employability skills employers look for, such as:

teamwork

communication

time-keeping

following instructions

problem-solving

You will also continue to improve your English and Maths for work and everyday life.

Course Details

On this course, you will study:

Employability skills to help you get ready for work

Enterprise skills to build confidence and try new ideas

Maths and English for everyday life and work

Digital skills to help you use technology safely and confidently

You will also further develop independent living skills, helping you become more confident and independent in adult life.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Your Tutor and Job Coach will support you every step of the way.

They will check your progress in the classroom and in your work placement.

They will also help you build a portfolio to show the skills you have learned.

For English and Maths, you may take formal exams if they are right for you.

You will always be supported to do your best.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

The course can be adapted to suit your needs, based on your current English and Maths levels.

Support will be put in place to help you succeed.

This course is for young people who:

have completed their vocational learning

feel ready to explore the world of work

want to build confidence and independence for their next step

We focus on you, your strengths, and getting you ready for the future.
