Employability and Life Skills Entry Level Study Programme

This qualification is the first step on the ladder to progressing into vocational learning; Apprenticeships and employment. The individual qualifications are selected on the basis of previous qualifications studied and skills and abilities in various subjects.

The Employability and Life Skills Study Programme has three levels, Entry Level 1, Entry Level 2 and Entry Level 3. On each level, students will study qualifications appropriate to their individual skills and abilities.

Students on all levels of the Study Programme will gain employability skills by taking part in running our D Cafe which is located within the learning environment on D Floor. Our cafe is sponsored by Covea who have provided a new Barista style coffee machine to help equip learners with skills desirable for employers.

Learners will also have the opportunity to engage in exciting projects such as enterprise, fundraising, volunteering and work experience either within the College or in the local community.

The Study Programme leads to up to four qualifications – ASDAN Certificate in Personal and Social Development, ASDAN Certificate in Employability and Functional Skills English and ICT at Entry Level. Students can also work towards a Maths qualification and take part in enrichment activities such as sport, dog walking, shows and industry visits.

The Study Programme is unit based and assessed by completion of a personal portfolio.

Functional Skills Maths and English are assessed by in class assessments.

You will be required to attend an interview with a specialist tutor. At the interview, you will have the opportunity to find out about the Study Programme and ask any questions you may have.

You will be required to provide evidence of previous learning and a copy of a Statement of Needs or Local Authority equivalent.

You will complete an initial assessment which will determine entry onto the right level course. Additional Assessment for Learning will take place during the two week Course induction to ensure that learners are on the correct level to suit their skills, ability and previous learning.

This Study Programme provides learners with the first step on the ladder, and can offer progression onto vocational courses within the College and to eventual employment opportunities.
