CTEC Business Level 3 (1 A Level Equivalent)

CTEC Business is designed to enhance the enjoyment, understanding and appreciation of business and its role in daily life. The assignments allow students to apply knowledge to real businesses and develop their own business concept, from the initial planning and research stage to producing setup documentation.

The course is divided into different modules, half of which are assessed via coursework and half via external examination.

Students look at types of businesses and objectives, functional areas, organisational structures, use of financial information and dealing with customers. They also examine how to work effectively in a business environment, including arranging meetings, working with business documents, making payments, prioritising business activities and communicating with stakeholders.

Students will apply their knowledge to a range of business types from small start-ups to well-known multinationals.

There are five units throughout the two years, of which two are externally examined and three are internally marked coursework assignments that are moderated externally.

The overall qualification is graded Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*.

5 GCSE at grade 5 or above. Students must have achieved grade 5 or above in Maths and a 5 in English.
