Course Summary

This a one year programme, which is designed to broaden your understanding and knowledge of the world of business entrepreneurship, and taking that first step to start your own business. You will fundamentally develop important personal, academic and entrepreneurial skills that you will put into practice through the year.

You will be involved in identifying & creating business opportunities, plan business start-ups, understand and develop finance, have a clear understanding of profitability and financial management, plan and manage business events, develop research methods, marketing and selling your product/service.

The Level 3 programme comprises of 9 units in Year 1 (if doing 90 credit only) or 18 units (if doing it over 2 years). It covers the fundamentals of business as well as diversifying in to specialist areas such as Law, Finance, Marketing and Human Resources

As the programme has an enterprise emphasis, you will be expected to engage in a dynamic enterprise experience, whereby you will be given opportunities to manage your own business and develop leadership and effective team working skills.

The successful programme attracts UCAS points making university access a natural progression. As a well-established, nationally recognised qualification it is also recognised by employers, for those seeking work after completion.

The programme is the equivalent of 1 A Level.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment is through 100% coursework, there are no examinations.

This is a practical, work related course and you will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic situations.

Entry requirements

You must have a GCSE Grade C or above in English & Maths and be involved in work experience 1 day a week.

Candidates will be invited to an interview with the course tutor.

This course can lead to entry to Higher Education including: HND Business or Foundation Degrees in Business or International Business, students can also progress to university degrees.
