Course Summary
On this Bricklaying Level 1 diploma course, you will learn essential skills in health and safety, building principles, and construction techniques. You will handle tasks like constructing various types of brick walls, cavity walling, and setting out small buildings. You will also develop employability skills such as teamwork, communication, CV writing, and self-management, preparing you for a career in the construction industry.
Course Details
The qualification is unitised and has an assessment on the completion of each unit. When all six units of training have been completed and assessed individually, you will have successfully completed the course.
This qualification covers the following practical skills and knowledge training in:
- Health and safety
- Construct concrete block walls for retaining walls and internal cavity walls
- Constructing different types of brick walls including the various bonds used in the industry
- Cavity walling construction
- Setting out a small building
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will be assessed on each of the six units on the classroom theory knowledge you have developed. You will also be assessed on your skills development on the four practical skills tests for cavity walls, brick walls, blockwork walls and setting out. You will not be assessed until you have successfully completed the required training leading up to an assessment.
Entry requirements
- You must be 16-18 year olds.
- You must hold GCSE English and Maths. One of these qualifications must be a minimum Grade 1 and the other must be a minimum Grade 2.
