Barbering Level 2 Full-time (FHAI)

Through this qualification you will develop both skills and knowledge in health and safety for both yourself, your peers and your clients. You will learn how to conduct a thorough consultation prior to starting a service and understand how the choice of shampoos and conditioners can affect the hair and scalp.

You will be able to cut basic and facial hair cuts alongside recommending products and services to your clients, you will also develop knowledge and skills in colouring hair, scalp massage, creating a total barbering look or styling hair.

The qualification is completed and achieved through practical, coursework and on-line exams. Practical assessment is continual throughout the year, you would practice on head blocks first then need to bring in clients to be assessed. Each assessment that is passed is logged into a portfolio of evidence and once all assessments and theory tests are passed, logged into portfolio and signed by both assessor and candidate then the qualification is achieved.

• You should hold a Level 1 Hairdressing and Barbering qualification
• Alternatively, you should have a grade 4 or above in English and grade 2 or above in Maths.

You could progress onto the Level 3 Barbering or employment in a barber shop or salon.
