Course Summary

This course is designed to give you the practical skills and knowledge needed for a huge variety of jobs in animal care and related industries or for higher level study at university.

You will complete work experience, along with the opportunity to study a wide range of specialist units in animal science, business and industry related subjects.

There will be 1 external exam for Unit 3 Animal Welfare and Ethics. You will complete a further 4 modules including Animal Health and Diseases, Animal Behaviour, Practical Animal Husbandry and Work Experience. A minimum of 75 hours Industry Placement must be completed.

Entry requirements

This is an advanced course suitable for those with at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or grade 5 or above to include Maths or English (Science would also be advantageous if wanting to further progress onto the National Diploma), and/or a relevant Level 2 qualification at a Merit or equivalent/relevant work experience. Additionally, you may be required to undertake a taster session or task with course tutors.

Candidates will also need a satisfactory reference from their school or current tutor. Successful applicants will be asked to complete a research question prior to enrolment.

If your application is successful you will have an interview with a specialist tutor.
