Course Summary
The AAT Foundation Certificate in in Accounting develops accountancy skills in double-entry bookkeeping and basic costing, as well as an understanding of purchase, sales and general ledgers. Students will learn to use accounting software and to develop the professional skills and behaviours needed to contribute effectively in the workplace. Working in accountancy requires good communication skills, IT skills and an understanding of the business environment, all of which are covered by this qualification
It comprises five mandatory units:
Bookkeeping Transactions
Bookkeeping Controls
Elements of Costing
Using Computerised Accounting Software
Working Effectively in Finance
Course Details
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Your training officer will come and visit you in the work place and conduct reviews and onsite observation.
Functional skills (if required) will be completed on your college day release with the functional skills tutors.
During your apprenticeship you will build a portfolio of evidence and knowledge. This is a mandatory requirement for your end point assessment.
Your training officer will guide you through your qualification and plan delivery to work around you and your job role.
You will still be expected to submit work during any school holiday and your training officer will still be available then.
It is important that your employer is supportive of you on your learning journey and we will need some feedback from them in the form of reviews.
Entry requirements
Grades of C/ Grade 4 and above are required for this qualification. However, if you do not have the grades above you will be required to complete Functional Skills as part of the Apprenticeship.
