Course Summary
Project SEARCH is a full-time supported internship based in a real workplace, not in college.
You will learn and work on-site with a business host who will offer a range of placements for you to develop essential skills.
This programme runs 5 days per week and includes over 800 hours of work placement.
This means lots of real work experience to help you get job ready.
The course is for young people aged 18–24 with an EHCP who want to move into paid employment.
You will:
Spend most of your time working in a real job setting
Gain experience in different work areas
Develop employability skills employers look for, such as teamwork, communication, and time-keeping
Build confidence and independence at work
You will have:
Short classroom-style sessions based in the workplace
Lots of hands-on, on-the-job learning
Course Details
This is a full-time supported internship based in a real business.
You will get:
Over 800 hours of work placement to build skills employers want
Three 10-week placements in different areas of the business
A focused employability programme, taught from the workplace
Opportunities to learn with well-known employer partners
You will be fully supported by a Tutor and a Job Coach, who will help you to:
learn job tasks
understand and meet workplace expectations
set and achieve your personal goals
You will also continue to develop your English and Maths skills to support you at work.
This programme helps you gain confidence, experience, and skills to get job ready.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will be trained to complete a range of job tasks.
You will get regular feedback and support to help you do tasks to the right standard.
You will work towards:
Personal targets
Work-based targets
This helps you:
Build confidence
Improve your skills
Learn what is needed to be successful at work
Support will be ongoing, with help given every step of the way.
Entry requirements
You do not need any formal qualifications to join this course.
Your place must be commissioned by the Local Authority.
This course is for young people who:
are aged 18–24
have an EHCP
are motivated
want to work in the future
Before starting, you will take part in an Assessment Day.
This helps check that the course is right for you and that you will get the right support.
