Course Details
The Level 3 Extended BTEC Diploma in Sport Coaching and Development, is a full time sixth form course which runs for two years. The qualification is awarded by Pearson and is the equivalent to three A levels, and this allows students to achieve up to 168 UCAS points; gaining access to the top universities across the UK in the process.
Students will be in lesson for three days per week for around 15 hours; taking part in both theory and practical sessions. The split between theory and practical is around 70/30 in favour of theory, but this may differ depending on the unit being delivered at the time. The other two days of the week will be taken up by the students' work placement. This is where students learn their trade and take that next step towards becoming an industry leader. Work placements are decided upon by each individual student, allowing them to develop the skills specifically for their chosen career. Some popular work placement roles include:
- Sports coaching
- Physiotherapy
- Sport Media
- Sports Analysis
