Course Summary
This qualification is for students who are interested in learning about the health and social care sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses. It is designed to be taken as part of a programme of study that includes A Levels.
The qualification consists of four units of equivalent weighting: two of the units will be assessed by external exams and two of the units will be internally assessed through coursework that is set by the exam board.
Health and Social Care describes the work sectors that provide healthcare and social care services.
Health and Social Care as a subject of study is multidisciplinary in nature. It includes concepts and knowledge from natural sciences such as biology and social sciences such as sociology and psychology. This gives Health and Social Care broad appeal and something for everyone to enjoy.
It is a fascinating subject, focused on understanding how people live, grow and
develop and the factors that affect this.
Entry requirements
The aim of our entry criteria policy is to ensure students are taking courses they are well suited to and are able to make progress in. We seek to provide courses well matched to the needs of our students, helping them to follow their chosen progression pathway.
Our main College entry requirements are as follows;
Entry Requirements
A minimum of five 9-4 grades at GCSE, including English and Maths (at least to Level 4) from five different subject areas.
Purely vocational pathway require a minimum of four 9-4 grades at GCSE, including English and Maths (at least to Level 4) from four different subject areas.
There will be three pathways which students can follow based on an average grade produced from their seven best GCSE results. The calculation being used for this van be seen overleaf.
