Course Summary
Studying Economics will not only ensure students stay up to date with current issues; they will also develop the facilities to critically analyse a range of issues in finance, business and politics.
Course Details
In Year 12 students will study Theme 1 (microeconomics) which covers an introduction to markets and market failure, and Theme 2 (macroeconomics) which covers the UK economy - performance and policy.
In Year 13 students will study Themes 3 and 4 which cover business behaviour, labour markets and a global economic perspective.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The course follows the Edexcel Economics A Level specification.
Assessment is through three externally assessed exams at the end of Year 13.
Paper 1: 100 marks, 2h (35%)
Paper 2: 100 marks, 2h (35%)
Paper 3: 100 marks, 2h (30%)
Entry requirements
5 GCSE at grade 5 or above. Students must have achieved grade 6 or above in Maths and a 5 in English. A grade 6 if studied at GCSE.
