Course Summary

The Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Plumbing is for learners who are interested in developing the specific technical and professional skill that will lead to meaningful employment in the plumbing industry.

This is the next step for anyone who holds a Level 2 Plumbing qualification and is the progressive step towards becoming a qualified Plumber.

This qualification is the industry recognised route for Plumbing Installation students looking to achieve that next level of Plumbing knowledge and skills, providing an in depth understanding of service and maintenance techniques, cold water systems planning and design, hot water systems planning and design and building services site procedures and planning.

Course Details

Students will study theoretical aspects of the subject and apply them to practical tasks. Topics include:

Engineering materials

Planning and overseeing electrical work activities

Domestic central heating systems planning and design

Principles and requirements of environmental technology systems

Domestic sanitation system installation

Commissioning

Service and maintenance techniques

Cold water systems planning and design

Hot water systems planning and design

Building services site procedures and planning

How will it be delivered and assessed?

This qualification combines both practical workshop tasks as well as classroom-based theory.

Entry requirements

Standard Level 3 Vocational entry requirements apply - the minimum requirement is at least five GCSEs at Grade 4 or at Least 3 GCSE subjects at Grade 4 alongside alternative GCSE equivalent qualifications. For this course you must have GCSE at Grade 4 or above in Science or you will have completed a Level 2 Diploma in a related subject, along with GCSE Grade 4 in Maths and English. If you have completed a Level 2 Plumbing course in Construction you will have the necessary entry requirements for this course.
