Course Summary
The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations is aimed at experienced bricklayers who are working in the construction industry and need to demonstrate their occupational competence.
The qualification is completed entirely through the workplace, allowing students to use the skills, knowledge and experience developed through work to demonstrate that they meet the required industry standards.
You will demonstrate skills in areas such as planning and organising work, problem solving, interpreting technical information, communicating effectively, maintaining quality standards and working safely.
Achieving the qualification provides formal recognition.
Course Details
You will demonstrate your advanced bricklaying and masonry skills through the work you carry out in your normal job.
This includes erecting masonry and masonry cladding, setting out, architectural and decorative brickwork, planning work and resources, health and safety, and developing effective working relationships.
Depending on your work, optional areas can include thin joint masonry, repair and maintenance, specialist masonry elements or drainage.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
No formal attendance at college required.
Assessment takes place entirely in the workplace while you carry out your normal bricklaying duties. Your assessor will observe you at work and gather evidence through workplace activities, professional discussion, questioning, photographs and relevant job documentation.
Entry requirements
Functional Skills English and Maths; GCSE grade 4 or above English and Maths
Level 2 qualification in Bricklaying that demonstrates competence – Level 2 NVQ; Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard
