Course Summary

During the 2-year programme, students will develop the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of management and administration occupations.

This T Level aims to develop knowledge and understanding of organisational cultures and values along with the importance of business behaviour, quality, and compliance.

Whilst working towards the completion of the technical qualification students will carry out an industrial that enables them to develop the required knowledge, skills and behaviours to work ready for the digital industry by the end of the course.

This T Level is equivalent to three A Levels and carries equivalent UCAS points.

Course Details

Y ear 1: Core Content

Students will gain an understanding of the core knowledge required for the management and administration sector including:

• Business behaviours

• Business & commercial awareness

• Problem-solving

• Finance

• Quality compliance

• Project & change management

• Undertaking research

Students will get to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the core content and their core skills to solve occupationally relevant situations and/or problems.

Year 2: Occupational Specialism in Business Support

In addition to the core content, each student will also complete a module of occupation-specific content in Business Support.

Students will focus on the knowledge and skills that are required to support the running of an organisation including:

• Prioritisation skills to support time management and delivery of workloads

• Ways to develop and improve business practices

• Effective communication with stakeholders to support business practices

• Managing the flow of information through the organisation

This aim is to deepen the core knowledge developed in year one in order to produce competent practitioners that are ready for the management and administration sector.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Year 1: Core Content

This comprises of two external examinations and one externally assessed employer set project.

Core Exam 1

2 hours 30 minutes external written exam – 100 marks

• will cover knowledge from the Management and Administration core testing range of assessment objectives.

• will consist of a mixture of short answer questions, some of which will be structured, and extended response questions.

• will be awarded on the grade scale A* – E

Core Exam 2

2 hours 30 minutes external written exam – 100 marks

• will cover knowledge from the Management and Administration core testing range of assessment objectives

• will consist of a mixture of short answer questions, some of which will be structured, and extended response questions

• will be awarded on the grade scale A* – E Employer Set Project 25 hours of externally assessed work – 100 marks

• will cover knowledge from the Management and Administration core testing range of assessment objectives

• will consist of a well-defined, real industry-style brief. The brief will be complex and non-routine, and will require the use of relevant maths, English and digital skills

• will be awarded on the grade scale A* – E

Year 2: Occupational Specialism: Business Support

32 hours of externally assessed work – 60 marks

• will feature a considerable practical element composed of a series of holistic practical tasks relating to the specialism

• will take place over a period of time within an approximate 3-month assessment window

• will be awarded on the grade scale Distinction, Merit, Pass and Ungraded

The overall T Level qualification grade in Management and Administration will be awarded based on performance in the core components and occupational specialism plus successful completion of an industry placement. The final grade awarded will be Distinction*, Distinction, Merit or Pass which carries UCAS points equivalent to three A Levels.

Qualification Grading

The overall T Level qualification grade in Management and Administration will be awarded based on performance in the core components and occupational specialism plus successful completion of an industry placement (315 hours).

The final grade awarded will be Distinction*, Distinction, Merit or Pass.

Entry requirements

A grade 5 or above in English and Mathematics is desirable.

Following the completion of this T level you may go on to:

• Skilled employment/work that is within the business management and administration sector inclusive of roles as Business administrator or a Team leader and Supervisor

• Higher Level apprenticeships that progress you into careers such as Senior business administrator, Office manager or a Business manager

• University degree relevant to your interests as UCAS points are awarded for T Levels allowing progression routes onto a range of Higher Educational pathways
