Course Summary

Are you interested in tourism, new cultures and helping people to enjoy their leisure time? Travel and Tourism is a rapidly growing industry offering many career options and the chance to work with people of all ages and backgrounds. Visit England estimate that this year the domestic travel industry will see spending levels of £61.7bn, meaning the sector offers many unique employment opportunities.
Travel and Tourism is a popular choice here at HNC. We offer this course at three separate levels, and the qualification you opt for will be determined by your future career plans.
This is a two year course which equals one A level.

Course Details

The topics you study will help you to develop an indepth understanding of global destinations and the world of travel and tourism, and the opportunities on offer in this rapidly growing industry. Topics you will study include:


- The world of Travel and Tourism
- Principles of marketing
- Global destinations
- Visitor attractions
You’ll enjoy learning through a variety of experiences including group work, independent research, case studies, role plays, report writing, presentations and examination preparation. A range of trips and experiences are also available to destinations such as to Blackpool, Dublin and Flamingo Land. To enhance your future employment prospects, you will have the chance to study additional qualifications such as Air Cabin Crew, Resort Representatives and Events Planning.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment is through a combination of coursework and graded at Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*. In the first year you will complete one examined unit and one internally examined unit. In Year 2 you will complete a task set and marked by the awarding body, and one internally set assignment.
