Course Summary

Have you ever wondered how the music you love to listen to is created? The processes that take place behind the scenes are varied, from capturing audio to creating original computer based music.
If you have a passion for creating music and want to produce music to a professional standard, then this 1 A Level equivalent course is for you!

Course Details

You’ll explore a range of production techniques through topics including:

- DAW production to produce and manipulate music

- Mixing and mastering techniques

- Creative synthesis and sampling

- Commercial music production

- Music and sound for media

Our teachers are highly qualified and passionate about their subject. In addition to an outstanding experience in the classroom, you can expect a range of trips and visits. You will have access to an iMac computer suite running the latest industry standard software, as well as a multi-track recording studio with live space and a vocal booth. HNC is home to professional grade music facilities, including state-of-the art recording and mixing studios. We also have dedicated practice spaces. Our teachers are experienced musicians and performers, who will push you to explore a range of genres and musical styles.

Assessment is a mixture of coursework and externally verified assessment. Please speak to our Music team for further details.

Your next steps...

Gaining a BTEC in Music (Digital Production) has allowed our students to progress to a range of related degrees including BA (Hons) Music, BA (Hons) Music and English, BA (Hons) Music Production and Sound Engineering.

This course also supports progression to a wide range of industry based roles such as Commercial Songwriter, working in a recording studio and producing library music, music for radio and music for computer games. You may also wish to study this as part of a wider mixed study programme.
