Course Summary
This course will give learners the opportunity to learn and understand a broad range of business and entrepreneurial knowledge and skills associated with working within a business enterprise. Students will understand the way in which any venture in business (big or small) is a function of the relationship between its people, its marketing, its finance and its ability to deliver operationally upon its commitments. Students will develop transferable skills such as research, teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills both oral and written. This Extended Certificate is equivalent to one A Level and carries equivalent UCAS points.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
YEAR 1
Unit 1 – Financial Planning and Analysis (16.67%) - 1 hr 30 mins external examination – 60 marks
Unit 2 – Business Dynamics (16.67%) - Non-examined assessment (NEA) work completed and assessed internally before being externally moderated by the exam board.
Unit 3 – Entrepreneurial Opportunities (16.67%)
This is an externally assessed assignment based on a given context that is set by exam board, completed in a supervised environment and then marked by exam board.
Year 2:
Unit 4 – Managing and Leading People (16.67%) 1 hr 30 mins external examination – 60 marks
Unit 5 – Developing a Business Proposal (16.67%) Non-examined assessment (NEA) work completed and assessed internally before being externally moderated by the exam board.
Unit 8 – Marketing Communications (16.67%) Non-examined assessment (NEA) work completed and assessed internally before being externally moderated by the exam board.
Qualification Grading
External assessments are graded Near Pass, Pass, Merit or Distinction.
NEA units are graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.
All units must achieve a grade to be awarded the full qualification which is graded Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*
Entry requirements
GCSE of 4 or above in English and Maths is essential.
