Course Summary
This course is for those who want to work in the accountancy sector. It will teach you many aspects of the accountancy industry. This qualification will prepare you for junior and entry level accounting roles. It delivers a solid foundation in finance administration – covering areas such as double entry bookkeeping to basic costing principles and using accounting software.
As an accountant you’ll give advice, audit accounts and provide trustworthy information about financial records. This might involve financial reporting, taxation, auditing, forensic accounting, corporate finance, business recovery and insolvency, or accounting systems and processes.
You’ll have the choice of many different settings to work in, including public practice firms and industry and commerce, as well as in the not-for-profit and public sectors. Working strategically, your aim will be to maximise profitability on behalf of your client or employer.

You will be assessed by computer based examinations throughout the course as well as some project work.
Entry requirements
Seven GCSEs at grade 6 or above including English and Maths.

You can move onto Accounting Advanced Diploma Level 3. Universities and professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) offer exemptions to those who are AAT qualified.
