Course Summary

Tap into your love of the great outdoors with this programme, which explores a range of adventure activities, as well as the public services sector and sports leadership. With a mixture of classroom and practical teaching, you’ll also develop teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills.

Course Details

You will study generic sport units and also specialise in modules relating to outdoor adventure. This course combines both theory and practical work, spending at least one day per week in the outdoors putting theory learnt into practice.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Students will learn through lectures, talks from guest speakers, visits, practical sport fitness and leadership sessions, outdoor activities and work related experience. Students' work is assessed continually throughout the course.

Entry requirements

at grade 3 (old GCSE grade D) or above to include two from English, Maths and Science, with at least a grade 2 (old GCSE grade E) in the remaining subject.

Alternatively a suitable Level 1 vocational qualification with English and Maths at Level 1.

Your next steps...

You could progress on to our Level 3 Outdoor Adventure Sport course and upon successful completion, apply to our degree/foundation degree course in outdoor education or other sports related subject.

This course can prepare you for employability in the sport, leisure or outdoor industry.

Progression and Development Sessions

All students enrolled on a Level 2 or Level 3 course will be required to attend Progression and Development sessions every week. These sessions will cover a wide range of topics from careers and employability, British Values and equality and diversity to essential life skills such as mental health and wellbeing, drugs and alcohol and personal safety.
