Course Summary

This Certificate in Level 2 Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties aims to help develop knowledge of several different specific learning difficulties, how they are diagnosed and how individuals can be supported. It also covers how to understand the positive aspects and strengths of individuals with specific learning difficulties in addition to exploring the barriers they may face.

Unit 2: Sources of information, support, legislation and guidance relevant to Specific Learning Difficulties

Section 1: Understand legislation and guidance that is relevant to individuals with Specific Learning Difficulties

Section 2: Understand roles and responsibilities if those involved in protecting the rights of individuals with Specific Learning Difficulties

Unit 3: Living with a Specific Learning Difficulty

Section 1: Understand the experiences of those living with a Specific Learning Difficulty

Section 2: Understand how society impacts upon a person with a Specific Learning Difficulty

Section 3: Understand the positive contributions that can be made by individuals with a Specific Learning Difficulty in different environments

Section 4: Understand the impact of an individual’s Specific Learning Difficulty on those around them

Unit 4: Best practice relating to Specific Learning Difficulties

Section 1: Understand the best practice in providing support to individuals with Specific Learning Difficulties

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The course is delivered via distance learning, supported by a range of interactive online resources. Work is assessed by the tutor throughout the programme from induction to completion.

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements however learners should have a minimum of Level 2 in English and Maths or equivalent.
