These fees relate to 2022/23: TBC If you are 19 or over and do not already have a level 3 qualification or higher, you may be able to access a free level 3 qualification with us. If you earn below the National Living Wage (less than £19,305 annually) or are unemployed, from April you may also be able to access these qualifications for free. If you are not eligible for a free L3 course, an Advanced Learner Loan may be available to cover your course fees If you do not achieve the course within 12 weeks you will be eligible for registration and course costs of £100

Course Summary

This course prepares you to work within the health and social care sector. This is hopefully a seamless path onto the Foundation Degree in Health and Well-being at Wakefield College. You will develop a range of skills and knowledge which you will put into practice during your mandatory placement day.

You will study a range of units;

• Equality and Diversity

• Human growth and development

• Safeguarding

• Communication

• Infection prevention

• Psychology

• Sociology

• Working in health and social care

• Reflective Practice


How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will be assessed by a range of methods including oral questioning, portfolio building, posters, written assignments and practical tasks.

You will also need to complete a 5000 word externally marked extended essay.


Entry requirements

A successful interview and Level 2 (or GCSE pass) English and maths. Or English at level 2 (or GCSE pass), or be working towards Maths. You should have an interest in the subject.
