Course Summary

The VTAA is an equivalent accreditation for Technicians who wish to gain the DVSA Certificate of Competence for MOT Testers but have no formal Level 3 Motor Vehicle qualification.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

There will be 16 practical tasks/assessments and then an exam.

Please Note: It may take up to two weeks after completion for your Certificate to arrive.

Entry requirements

You must have:

• A current and full UK driving licence for the vehicle classes you want to test

• At least 4 years full time employment in service and repair of vehicle classes that you wish to test

Your next steps...

Further Study: Successful achievement of the VTAA course will allow progression onto the MOT Tester Training course.

Career Opportunities: The VTAA can be used to:

• Show technicians have the knowledge and skills expected of someone working at Level 3

• Help technicians without a Level 3 qualification to become qualified to conduct MOTs

• Show that a technician meets the Motor Vehicle Level 3 National Occupational Standards

The VTAA is not a qualification, but is a specifically designed accreditation and a lifetime achievement, meaning that once technicians have successfully completed the VTAA they will be considered equivalent to those who have studied to Level 3 via a qualification route.
