Overview

Many of the worlds current issues link to geography. Challenges include Global Warming, energy and water security, as well as geopolitics in an increasingly connected world. As we consider our environment more and more studying Geography will allow you to consider the basis of the wider world. Skills include problem solving, critical thinking and data analysis. An independent investigation is a course requirement.

Details

In year 1 you will study: Hazards, coats and Contemporary Urban Environments. Year 2 will see you extend your knowledge of this subject when you look at: Changing Places, Globalisation, Water and Carbon Cycles.

How will it be delivered?

As with all of our A Level courses, Geography will be delivered in 6 hours per week of teaching time. It is strongly suggested that you spend an additional 3-4 hours per week of independent work and research towards this qualification.

Entry requirements

Grade 6 in GCSE Geography is essential to meet the demands of this A Level. A 5 in English and Science would also be an advantage.

Geography uses a wide range of transferable skills and is seen as a facilitating subject by many universities. Degree courses include BSc/BA Geography, or combining it with a wide variety of subjects. Career progression
