Mandatory units include:
UHB195- Consultation
UHB196- Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
UHB197- Cut hair using a range of techniques to create a variety of looks
UHB198- Style and finish hair using a range of techniques to create a variety of looks
UHB199- Colour and lighten hair using a range of techniques
Optional units include:
UHB204 Perming hair
UHB205 Hair relaxing treatments and techniques
UHB206 Hair extension services
How will it be delivered?
The apprenticeship consists of a minimum 30 hours a week. This includes 1 day a week at college. The rest will take place in the salon that you have chosen to do your apprenticeship in. You will be working full time in the salon learning about the hairdressing trade and all the practical skills that come along with it.
At college you will be learning a mixture of theory and practical and will be working with real clients throughout the course.
The End-point Assessment is carried out by an Apprenticeship Assessor who assesses the your skills, knowledge and behaviours through practical observations and oral questions. This takes 6 hours maximum excluding breaks and is all completed in one day.
Entry requirements
Must be passionate about hairdressing or barbering and have good communication and presentation skills.
Your next steps...
At the end of your course you will be able to work as a junior/graduate stylist in a salon, you will also have the option to progress on to your level 3 in either hairdressing or barbering. From there you could move on in to a variety of job opportunities or even start your own business.
