Overview

This subject is suitable for any student with a lively interest in any aspect of Drama and Theatre.  There is a substantial practical element and students will have the opportunity to work with each other as part of a group.  No specific previous experience is required, although a proven interest and some experience in drama and theatre is needed. 

Details

Component 1 : Drama and Theatre
A practical and creative exploration of two contrasting plays from a performer's, director's and designer's perspective. Analysis of live theatre performances to assess the effectiveness of performers', directors' and designers' production aims and audience responses.

Component 2: Creating Original Theatre
Working in groups as performers and designers to devise and perform an original piece of theatre using the methods and style of a chosen theatre practitioner.

Component 3: Making Theatre
Performers and designers working in groups to stage extracts from a published play using the rehearsal methods and performance techniques of a chosen theatre practitioner.

How will it be delivered?

This course is linear and will be fully examined at the end of the two year course.

 

Entry requirements

The College gives priority to its 11 partner schools. Places are offered to other applicants on a competitive basis.

All prospective students will be required to achieve a minimum of grade 4 in GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics, and a minimum of grade 6 in three GCSE subjects.
