Are you interested in both the theoretical and practical aspects of theatre? Are you keen to develop your practical skills as an actor, designer or director whilst having an academic element to your studies? Then A Level Drama and Theatre Studies is a great option for you!
This course has both a practical and academic element to learning. In addition to analysing scripts and theoretical texts, you will also hone your acting and performing skills. Topics include:
• Drama and theatre
• Creating original drama
• Making theatre
Working with your classmates, you will work together to undertake a practical exploration and interpretation of key texts, which will see you create a devised performance piece relating to these texts. You’ll also produce a log book and a working notebook where you will evaluate the performance. Our outstanding teaching staff will help you work with your peers, and you will enjoy performing in our state-of-the-art theatre.
If you are passionate about theatre and drama, and want an academic element to your studies, this course is a fantastic option.
This course is assessed via written examinations and a performance which is assessed by an external examiner.
Grade 5 in GCSE English Language and grade 5 in GCSE English Literature. General entry criteria applies, this is available on our website.
