National Extended Certificate (BTEC)
The qualification gives a coherent introduction to the study of art and design. Students develop art and design projects and gain an understanding of the creative process. They study visual recording and communication, critical analysis and production skills to produce art and design outcomes
This course has an equivalent in size to one A Level. You will cover 4 units of which 2 are external set. The coursework is worth 52% and the external assessment 58%. You will be given themes to research and shown a range of new processes and working practices. There are lots of opportunities for you to make a personal response. The course will involve a visit to a major gallery.
You may work in any media, including: drawing, painting, photography, print, sculpture, film.
