Upgrade the qualifications obtained during your Apprenticeship and boost your career. This Advanced Apprenticeship programme will enable you to study for valuable Level 3 City & Guilds vocational qualifications and Diplomas in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair and you will also have the chance to brush up your Functional Skills in ICT, English and Maths.
What you will study
You will study engine diagnostice and rectification, vehicle chassis systems diagnosis and rectification, vehicle auxiliary systems diagnosis and rectification, and vehicle inspection procedures.
Maths and English (and sometimes IT) are key elements of apprenticeship programmes and if you do not already have a GCSE at grade A*-C in these subjects you will be required to study Functional Skills at the appropriate levels.
Skills in Maths and English will support your apprenticeship programme, assisting you with assignment writing, research, job applications, presentations, managing your own finances and interpretation of data, to mention just a few. They will also help you in the future. Most employers are looking for ability in these areas and the majority of university courses require you to have Maths and English GCSEs at A*-C. This is why the development of Maths and English is so important, whatever your field of study.
Level 2 qualification in a related subject or completion of a Level 2 apprenticeship.
You will also need Level 2 literacy and numeracy qualifications. If you do not have the relevant level of qualification, we can assess your current level of literacy and/or numeracy.
Specialist training in the field. Possibility of progression to Level 4 or 5 courses.
Students who have completed level 3 can undertake further study or progress in to management. Past students have become VOSA approved MOT testers, or gone onto become self employed.
